About Mulch
Mulch is our Mossy / Reticulated Mniarogekko chahoua (Chahoua Gecko) — a species known for their robust build, striking camouflage patterning, and impressive size compared to other Rhacodactylus geckos. His rich earthy tones, bold reticulated markings, and strong body structure make him an exceptional addition to our breeding program.
Sired by a Troy's Geckos male and out of a Leaping Leachies female, Mulch carries quality chahoua genetics from two respected breeders in the community. His mossy expression and overall conformation reflect the careful selection that goes into producing top-quality chahoua offspring.
As we expand into chahoua breeding, Mulch represents our commitment to working with well-documented lineages and producing offspring that meet the highest standards for health, temperament, and visual quality.
Heritage
Lineage
Unnamed Male
Mossy Chahoua
Mulch's sire from Troy's Geckos — a well-regarded chahoua breeder known for producing high-quality mossy and reticulated animals with strong pattern expression.
Unnamed Female
Mossy Chahoua
Mulch's dam from Leaping Leachies — a respected name in the chahoua community producing animals with excellent coloration, temperament, and overall quality.
Genetic Traits
Chahoua do not have proven genetic morphs. Their visual differences are phenotypes — observable characteristics shaped by selective breeding over generations.
Mossy / Reticulated Pattern
Phenotype
Unlike many reptile species, chahoua do not have proven genetic morphs — their visual differences are referred to as phenotypes. Mulch displays a mossy and reticulated pattern, one of the most sought-after phenotypes in the hobby, characterized by complex layered patterning that mimics lichen-covered bark.
Base Color
Phenotype
Chahoua base color spans a wide range across the species — from brown and gray to red, orange, pink, and green. Mulch expresses rich earthy brown tones with contrasting lighter patches, a classic and highly heritable expression within the mossy phenotype.
White Expression
Phenotype
White patterning in chahoua is categorized by coverage: White Shoulder, White Collar, High White, and Super High White. Mulch does not carry a white collar or significant white expression, making him a non-white mossy chahoua — a clean, natural phenotype that pairs well across all white expression levels.
